In liver cancer, MAEL play roles by activation of Akt/GSK-3b/Snail signaling [11]; in colorectal cancer, MAEL and Snail synergistically inhibits the transcription of E-cadherin [12]; MAEL enhances the binding of DNMT3B to the promoter of MTSS1, and thereby epigenetically suppressing the MTSS1 transcription in bladder cancer [13]. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and liver cancer.
