Linear regression analyses found that baseline HbA1c levels were significantly associated with global cognitive, memory and executive function z scores after adjustment for age and sex, but these associations lost significance after further adjustment for total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triacylglycerol, high-sensitivity CRP, BMI, education, marital status, depressive symptoms, current smoking, alcohol consumption, hypertension, CHD, stroke, chronic lung disease and cancer (ESM Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and hypertensive disorder.
