Conceivably, proinflammatory responses in 4Eki brain could be linked to depression-like behaviors: (1) by GAIT mRNA translational disinhibition (Figs. 2, 6), linked to inflammation (Fig. 3); (2) through the known link of eIF4E and enhanced Type I IFN production (Colina et al., 2008); or (3) as a result of enhanced activity of NF-κB following translational downregulation of its inhibitor IκBα in 4Eki (Herdy et al., 2012). Here, NFKB1 is linked to depressive symptom measurement.
