CD8A and celiac disease: The expression of CD8 at the base of the villi was the lowest for NCGS (5.1 ± 3.1 cells/100 enterocytes), while, as summarized in Figure 3(c), negative controls and celiac disease were characterized by progressively increasing levels (7.9 ± 1.9 and 11.2 ± 3.6 cells/100 enterocytes, resp., p < 0.001).
