Cytoplasmic Gal-9 expression, however, determines the DFS and OS of ovarian cancer patients in two opposing ways: On one hand, moderate Gal-9 expression correlates with a reduced overall and disease-free survival, compared to Gal-9-negative cancers, while high Gal-9 expression correlated with the best outcome. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS9 and ovarian carcinoma.
