Cells deficient in SLC7A11 or depleted of GSH have been found to exhibit p38MAPK/JNK activation even at low levels of oxidative stress [15–17], indicating that SLC7A11 mediates cystine transport for GSH synthesis, plays a critical role in preventing of ROS-p38MAPK/JNK signaling and is implicated in the proliferation of several types of cancer cells.
