It was effective and safe in treating ovariectomy (OVX)-induced osteoporosis by increasing cell proliferation, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, collagen type I (COL I) contents, osteocalcin (OCN) levels and mineralization in osteoblasts, decreasing receptor activator of nuclear factor-??B ligand (RANKL) level and elevating the osteoprotegerin (OPG)/RANKL ratio in serum [93-95]. This evidence concerns the gene TNFSF11 and osteoporosis.
