It has been previously demonstrated that in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine- (MPTP-) induced mouse model of Parkinson's disease (PD), the midbrain is characterized by an overexpression of e-cadherin and interleukin-6 accompanied by a reduction of tyrosine hydroxylase for dopamine synthesis [2]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and Parkinson disease.
