ALB and hyperlipidemia: In the present study, based on an apparent high abundance of the S-thiolated HSAs with low molecular weight thiols, such as cysteine and homocysteine, in the hyperlipidemia patients, we establish that the S-thiolation takes place not only at the single free thiol group (Cys34) but also at multiple cysteine residues in the disulfide bonds of HSA.
