Mutations in the SQSTM1 gene have been associated with several diseases including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FD), and neurodegeneration with ataxia (Fecto et al, 2011; Rubino et al, 2012; Goode et al, 2016; Haack et al, 2016). This evidence concerns the gene SQSTM1 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
