In HT29 colon cancer cells, resistance to the anti-neoplastic drug Methotrexate correlates with higher levels of CAV1 in comparison to untreated cells [1, 12] and silencing of CAV1 expression by RNA interference decreases the MDR phenotype and sensitizes cells to Methotrexate treatment [13]. The gene discussed is CAV1; the disease is malignant colon neoplasm.
