CD36 and Cerebral ischemia: It has been previously reported that microglial expression of CD36, a highly glycosylated class B scavenger receptor, steadily increases during the acute phase (d3 and d7) of MCAO [19] and that inhibition of CD36 not only impairs phagocytosis but also attenuates damages and inflammatory responses mediated by cerebral ischemia, leading to better neurological functions [20, 21], consistent with our results.
