When 30 significantly mutated genes in HNSCC were analyzed for association with YAP1 activation [13, 27], TP53 (82.6% vs. 64.4%, P = 1.4 × 10-5) and CDKN2A (28.3% vs. 19.1%, P = 0.02) were identified as co-occurring mutated genes (Figure 4, Supplementary Table 3). This evidence concerns the gene CDKN2A and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
