The INS-1 cell line, a well differentiated mouse insulinoma β-cell line (Hohmeier et al., 2000[15]; Ronnebaum et al., 2008[29]) that displays the characteristics of pancreatic β-cells (including insulin secretion) in response to glucose stimulation was used in our in vitro experiments to investigate the function of miR-494 in regulating metabolism. This evidence concerns the gene INS and pancreatic insulinoma.
