In the control group, the variation in HOMA-β indices contributed by mitophagy-related genes (PINK1, MFN2, NIX, and LC3-II) was observed to be only 16.9%, which was statistically non-significant, whereas in subjects with prediabetes, variation in HOMA-β associated with these genes was 60.6%, which was highly significant (p = 0.005). Here, BNIP3L is linked to prediabetes syndrome.
