Among patients with inactive SLE (N = 80), urinary levels of angiostatin (0.38 ± 0.65 vs 0.31 ± 0.48 ng/ng; p = 0.49), CXCL4 (0.46 ± 1.97 vs 0.31 ± 1.01 pg/ng; p = 0.59) and VCAM-1 (169 ± 380 vs 150 ± 337 pg/ng; p = 0.63) were slightly higher in those who had a history of renal disease (N = 39) than in those who did not (N = 41). The gene discussed is VCAM1; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
