GP1BA and Stroke: Anti‐GPIbα antibody has been shown previously to protect mice from ischaemic brain injury in an experimental stroke model without an increase in bleeding complications.14 Here, anti‐GPIbα antibody had no effect on numbers of circulating platelets compared with IgG‐injected controls (Fig. 3a) yet significantly reduced (44%) the number of neutrophils in brain tissue after LPS (Fig. 3b,c).
