Sporadic colon cancer is highly heterogeneous and is identified by many subtypes including microsatellite instability (MSI) status, flat versus polyploidy tumor shape, adenoma-carcinoma or serrated pathway, and the mutation status of KRAS, p53, and adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) [12,33,34].
