This transversion causes a conversion of valine to glutamate of amino acid 600 in the BRAF protein, creating a constitutively active BRAF kinase, which has been proven to be an oncogene in human cancer [12] and is found in 40%–80% of all cases of papillary thyroid cancer [15]. The gene discussed is BRAF; the disease is thyroid gland papillary carcinoma.
