IL4 and asthma: A pivotal evidence of the interaction of polyamines and the Th2 response in asthma is evident from a study done in macrophages, where IL-4, a classical cytokine of allergic asthma, induced polyamine synthesis in macrophages and this production of polyamines orchestrated them into AAMs, while inhibiting the production of classically activated pro-inflammatory M1 macrophages [55] (Figure 2).
