The progress of this line of research will allow for analysis of the pathogenesis of Kif2a-related diseases, including schizophrenia (Li et al., 2006), juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (Kapoor et al., 2007), mental retardation, ocular defects (Jaillard et al., 2011), and MCD (Poirier et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene KIF2A and schizophrenia.
