Leukocyte‐mimetic iron oxide nanoparticles were created by coating with lymphocyte function‐associated antigen 1 I domain, which targets intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM‐1).153 These particles were able to target inflamed tumor vasculature due to leukocyte‐endothelial cell interactions under inflammatory conditions, and could serve as a cancer imaging agent. This evidence concerns the gene ICAM1 and neoplasm.
