Our data show that only serum Gal-3 predicts the stroke incidence (OR = 1.656, 95%CI: 0.132-2.312, P < 0.001) with adjustment of conventional clinical factors, including age, sex, BMI, blood pressure levels, TC, TC,HDL, LDL, serum Cr, serum hs-CRP et al. Although the serum Gal-1 levels were higher in stroke patient, it is not an independent factor associated with stroke in our study (OR = 1.001, 95%CI: 0.937-1.365, P = 0.064). This evidence concerns the gene LGALS3 and stroke disorder.
