When considering pooled data from normothermic or hypothermic rats, and without considering the time points, the number of nestin+ cells in the sub-granular zone of the injured hemisphere correlated with neurological deficit score in the normothermic rats (*p < 0.05; Figure 4A), and correlated with cerebral infarct size in the hypothermic rats (**p < 0.01; Figure 4B) when data from the 1st day after the onset of ischemia was excluded.
