RIGI and autoimmune disease: The former consists of endosomal toll-like receptor (TLR) 7, 8, and 9, cytoplasmic RNA sensors retinoic acid-inducible gene-I (RIG-I), and melanoma differentiation-associated protein 5 (MDA5) and DNA sensors cGAS and STING, whose activation is closely associated with systemic IFN/cytokinemia and autoimmune diseases resulting from the recognition of endogenous RNA/DNA (7–9).
