CERS1 and Huntington disease: Absence of CerS1 in knockout mice is, indeed, associated with reduced levels of gangliosides (Ginkel et al., 2012; Spassieva et al., 2016) and myelin associated glycoprotein (MAG) (Ginkel et al., 2012), two molecular features that have been reported also to characterize HD pathology (Desplats et al., 2007; Maglione et al., 2010; Di Pardo et al., 2012, 2014, 2016).
