The pathologies, which modify the biology of adipose tissue, such as obesity, and produce an alteration in the secretion of these adipocytokines, increasing the liberation of leptin, VEGF, IL-6, and TNF-α and decreasing the secretion of adiponectin could be linked to different carcinogenic mechanisms including cell differentiation, apoptosis, cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and alteration of steroidal sex hormone levels [9]. The gene discussed is LEP; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
