In the multivariate model that included age, BMI, systolic blood pressure, protein intake, eGFR, serum albumin, serum Ca, serum Pi, HbA1C, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, serum BAP, and serum FGF-23, in addition to the use of medication to treat hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia in postmenopausal women only, as independent variables, serum BAP was identified as a significant factor in postmenopausal, but not premenopausal women (Tables 3 and 4). The gene discussed is FGF23; the disease is hyperlipidemia.
