Several functional studies have shown that targeting the expression or the RNase activity of IRE1 reduces the progression of various forms of cancer mostly due to ablating the prosurvival effects of XBP1 on tumor growth (Chevet et al, 2015; Obacz et al, 2017), and we have previously demonstrated its functional implication in various models of experimental glioblastoma (Drogat et al, 2007; Auf et al, 2010; Dejeans et al, 2012; Pluquet et al, 2013; Jabouille et al, 2015).
