Previously, it has been shown that costunolide exerts anticancer activity through several signaling pathways, including activation of p53, activation of c-jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), inhibition of nuclear factor-κB and telomerase activity, and induction of apoptosis in several cancer lines, including a prostate cancer cell line [16, 17].
