Surprisingly, sublethal infection with either Pmt2-expressing or Pmt2-deficient yeast cells did not change core body temperatures (Fig. 6A), despite the production of fever-inducing cytokines (e.g., tumor necrosis factor alpha [TNF-α], interleukin-1β [IL-1β], and IL-6) after infection (Fig. S6).
