Previous studies in other neurological disorders have linked mitochondrial dysfunction to perturbations in creatine kinase gene expression [71,72] and phosphocreatine (PCr) utilization [73,74], and our RNASeq data showed a downregulation of mtCK in the group of 20 most significantly regulated genes in neurons (S3 Table).
