Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) enhanced alternative splicing of a tumor-promoting variant of the tumor suppressor KLF6 by decreasing the levels of SRSF3 and, in consequence, also the levels of SRSF1 because the lack of SRSF3 triggers an alternative splicing into a non-functional SRSF1 transcript degraded through the nonsense-mediated mRNA decay pathway [85]. This evidence concerns the gene SRSF3 and neoplasm.
