A small study by Candia et al. on PsA patients showed a temporary increase in the number of TLR2 on immature dendritic cells in vitro [24], whereas Myles et al. examined patients with juvenile chronic arthritis associated with enthesitis, and observed an increased expression of TLR2 and TLR4 on monocytes in peripheral blood and in articular fluid, which was associated with increased production of IL-6 and metalloproteinase 3 (MMP-3) following stimulation with LPS [25]. This evidence concerns the gene TLR2 and enthesitis.
