CRP and cardiovascular disorder: Furthermore, among US adults (n = 18,741, mean age = 44.7 years) and after adjusting for age, sex, race, education, smoking, physical activity, BMI and total energy consumed, we observed a link between CRP, an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and dietary pattern rich in fiber (unpublished data), indicating an effect of dietary fiber on the risk of cardiovascular disease mediated in part by inflammatory pathways.
