To investigate the role of host GL metabolism in LCFA scavenging by T. cruzi amastigotes, mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEF) deficient in diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT1/2)-dependent TG synthesis were exploited for parasite infection and metabolic labeling studies. The gene discussed is DGAT1; the disease is biological process involved in symbiotic interaction.
