Of the set of 32 genes responsible for the significant enrichment for obesity in the LHvsLN comparison (Additional file 1: Figure S8), the gene with most published evidence of association with obesity was the insulin receptor gene Insr (ENSRNOG00000029986) (Additional file 1: Table S6); Cat (ENSG00000121691) was the human gene of that list assigned to the promoter with the greatest number of SSVs (58 SSVs) overlapping the HVRs. This evidence concerns the gene INSR and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
