In this regard, systemic injection of BMP7 (a TGF-β antagonist) reverses renal fibrosis in mice [65] and paricalcitol (a synthetic vitamin D analog that suppresses the expression of TGF-β and the Type I TGF-β receptor) attenuates ureteral obstruction-induced renal fibrosis in mice [66].
