In many inflammatory diseases including pancreatitis, activated NF-κB translocates to neucleus and binds to the gene promoters for proinflammatory cytokine IL-6 and monocyte chemoattractant MCP-1, resulting in increased production of IL-6 and MCP-1 (Martin et al., 1999; Pandol et al., 1999; Roebuck et al., 1999; Tak and Firestein, 2001; Vaquero et al., 2001; Gukovsky et al., 2008).
