The DDIT4 gene (DNA-damage-inducible transcript 4) encodes a protein related to adverse environmental conditions, whose action is the inhibition of mTOR.25 Despite the biological function of DDIT4, in our analysis this gene was related with tumour aggressiveness with an HR=1.56 (P=0.005) by each unit of change (Table 1).
