CD274 and neoplasm: [4] IFNγ consequently promotes, through a IRF1 mediated mechanism, the expression of CD-274 gene, coding for the PD-L1, and of IDO gene, encoding for indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase, an enzyme that transform tryptophan into kynurenine, leading to an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment in which the T cells’ proliferation and activity are inhibited.
