While preliminary studies of the immune content of 9 human malignant gliomas reported the predominance of CD11b+CD45highmacrophages (6.25%), with CD11b−CD45+ leukocytes (2.48%) and CD45lowCD11b+ microglia (1.65%)53, a recent study using the improved FACS method revealed that the main myeloid contributors in human GBMs were MDSCs (~40%) and microglia (~40%), whereas macrophages (~20%) were less frequent24.
