Herein, we report that patients with active EoE have markedly increased detection of IL-33 present in the nuclei of esophageal basal layer cells with high levels of E-cadherin, p75, p63, and keratins (KRT) 5 and 14 and low expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). Here, PCNA is linked to eosinophilic esophagitis.
