GSK3B and nervous system disorder: In the brain, both GSK3α and GSK3β are expressed (Yao et al., 2002), and disruption of GSK3 signaling has been implicated in a number of neurological diseases, such as schizophrenia (Emamian et al., 2004; Mao et al., 2009), major depression (Li and Jope, 2010), bipolar disorder (Klein and Melton, 1996; Chenn and Walsh, 2002; Valvezan and Klein, 2011), and neurodegenerative diseases (Hooper et al., 2008; Lee et al., 2016).
