Only very limited clinical investigation of combined treatment with VEGF and HGF/cMET inhibitors has been reported: a phase Ib trial showed the safety of combining bevacizumab with rilotumumab in cancer patients [18] and a phase II trial of bevacizumab and onartuzumab in breast cancer patients was inconclusive, possibly due to low expression of cMET in the trial patients [19]. This evidence concerns the gene MET and breast cancer.
