We would like to stress that higher circulating IFN-λ3 levels were independently associated with favourable outcomes for HD patients with respect to responsiveness to HBV vaccination, and therefore with better protection of HD patients against HBV, as well as with respect to self-limited HBV infection and spontaneous HCV clearance, and therefore with avoidance of serious liver complications related to persistent HBV/HCV viremia (hepatic cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma) [50–53]. This evidence concerns the gene IFNL3 and Cirrhosis.
