The role of colibactin-encoding E. coli has been explored in human colorectal cancer and investigated in different types of mouse models including IL10−/− mice treated with azoxymethane (AOM), C57BL/6J-ApcMin/J mice treated with AOM and dextran sodium sulfate (DSS), and nude mice with xenografts [11, 15, 33, 34].
