NFKB1 and cancer: Activation of NF-κB up-regulates expression of its responsive genes in cancer cells; these genes include proliferative genes (such as Cyclins D and E), anti-apoptotic genes (such as Bcl-XL, cIAP1, cIAP2, XIAP, A20, TRAF-2 and c-FLIP) and pro-angiogenesis genes (such as VEGF).
