While there is evidence that chemerin and CMKLR1 support tumorigenesis in glioblastoma, gastric cancer, squamous esophageal cancer and squamous cell carcinoma of the oral tongue [16–18, 20], an anti-tumorigenic effect has been suggested in melanoma, hepatocellular carcinoma and non-small cell lung cancer [15, 30, 31]. The gene discussed is CMKLR1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
