Another recent study conducted at the University of Poznan in subjects with new-onset type 1 diabetes demonstrated an association between the absence of partial remission of diabetes at any time in the follow-up (defined as Hba1C of <6.5% (48 mmol/mol) associated with insulin dose ≤0.3 UI/kg/day and stimulated C-peptide levels > 500 pmol/mL) and the incidence of microvascular complications. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
